Light Trails

The real-time light-cycle game. Your bike leaves a wall. Do not hit one.

Two bikes race around an arena, each leaving a solid wall of light behind it. Tap the left or right half of the screen to turn a quarter circle. Hit a wall, a trail or the edge and you lose the round, and the bikes get faster the longer a round lasts. First to three rounds wins.

How to play Light Trails

Two bikes start facing each other in a square arena. Each leaves a solid wall of light behind it.
Tap the left half of the screen to turn left and the right half to turn right (or use the arrow keys or A / D).
Crash into a wall, either trail or the edge and you lose the round. If both bikes crash at the same moment, nobody scores.
The bikes speed up the longer a round lasts.
First to three round wins takes the match.

Tips to win

Cut across your rival’s path early to shrink their space, but leave yourself a way out.
Near the end of a round, hug your own walls: a tight spiral uses space more efficiently than wide turns.
Plan turns a step ahead, the bikes get faster, and there is one turn per step.

How a match works

Open the game on your device and press play.
Get matched with someone straight away, or send a friend your private room link and wait for them to join.
Both of you play at the same time; the server keeps the two screens in step. A match takes about 3 minutes.
Lost your connection? Come back within a minute and the match carries on where it stopped.

Questions

Can I play Light Trails online with a friend?

Yes. Open Light Trails, choose to play a friend and send them the private room link, they open it on their own phone or computer and the match starts when you are both ready. You can also invite a player by username, or take a quick match against whoever is waiting.

Is Light Trails free, and do I need an account?

It is free, with no download and no account needed: press play and you join as a guest. Create an account later if you want to keep your match history and earn a rating on the leaderboard.

Can I turn during the countdown?

Yes. A turn during the countdown sets your first move of the round.
