Every guess lights up its tiles: green for the right letter in the right place, yellow for a letter that is in the word somewhere else, grey for one that is not. You can watch the colours of your rival’s rows but never their letters. You get six guesses and three minutes; the first to find the word wins, and if nobody does, the closest row takes it.

How to play Word Race

Tips to win
Use your first guess to test common letters, and your second to test five new ones.
Watch how fast your rival fills in green tiles. If they are closing in, stop experimenting and commit.
Remember that a letter can appear twice. A grey tile for a repeated letter only means there are no more copies.
Do not rush a bad guess: every row you waste is one fewer chance.
How a match works
Open the game on your device and press play.
Get matched with someone straight away, or send a friend your private room link and wait for them to join.
Both of you play at the same time; the server keeps the two screens in step. A match takes about 3 minutes.
Lost your connection? Come back within a minute and the match carries on where it stopped.

Can I play Word Race online with a friend?
Yes. Open Word Race, choose to play a friend and send them the private room link, they open it on their own phone or computer and the match starts when you are both ready. You can also invite a player by username, or take a quick match against whoever is waiting.
Is Word Race free, and do I need an account?
It is free, with no download and no account needed: press play and you join as a guest. Create an account later if you want to keep your match history and earn a rating on the leaderboard.
Do we really get the same word?
Yes. The server picks one word for the whole match, so it is a fair race.
Can my rival see my letters?
No. They only see the colours of your rows, never the words you typed, until the race ends.
What if both of us run out of guesses?
